Dr. Anne Makena is an ecosystems leader with years of experience in building people, programs and partnerships required to address the world’s most pressing challenges. Anne is presently the Co-Director of the Africa Oxford Initiative, driving strategy and programming for equitable partnerships with African institutions at the University of Oxford. She has worked across academia, business, government and non-governmental organisations.
An implementation scientist at heart, Anne completed the DPhil in Chemical Biology as a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford with a research focus on developing new therapeutic pathways for antimicrobial resistant infections. She is currently completing an Executive MBA program at the Said Business School, with a focus on Strategy and Innovation, Corporate resilience and Impact investing.
